Since 1 January 2017, new ‘Swissness’ legislation regulates when a product may carry the ‘Made in Switzerland’ designation and the Swiss cross.

The new Ordinance on the Use of Swiss Indications of Source for Cosmetic Products stipulates that a Swiss indication of source requires that a minimum of 60 percent of the manufacturing costs and at least 80 per cent of the research, development and production costs must arise in Switzerland.
